Woodrow “Blackie” Montgomery started Montgomery’s Jewelry in 1946 after he came out of the Marine Corps in World War II.
Blackie and his wife Mary ran the store together, and in 1978 their youngest son Woody Montgomery joined the family business.
Woody went to jewelry manufacturing school in Paris, Texas, and gemology school in Santa Monica, California, bringing in-house repair and custom jewelry designs to Starkville.
Woody married Robin Nettles, and she joined the store in 1981.
Blackie and Mary Montgomery left the store to Woody and Robin Montgomery, who took full ownership in 1987.
Robin said she and Woody work hard to build and maintain relationships with customers through honesty and loyalty, ensuring they return.
Montgomery’s Jewelry is the oldest and still the best jewelry store in Starkville, Mississippi.
